Saturday 3rd September saw the Annual Syston Carnival. The day started early for the Officer in Charge, Flying Officer Kenyon and a number of Cadets who were to be found selling Wing raffle tickets in the town.
The day started very slowly as the weather was not in carnival mood! However, towards lunch time, things started to improve and people began arriving at the field to see what was going on. The Civilian Committee set up a stall inside the new gazebo and kept the Cadets busy selling raffle tickets, guessing the name of the bears, guessing how many sweets were in the jar, a wine or water game and a stall selling used goods. A total of over £300 was raised on the day.

In the afternoon, the Cadets took to the ring and performed the Wing Field Day drill routine and the Wing Banner Display. The orders for both displays were given by Cadet Sergeant Setchell under very trying circumstances! He had to put up with the fire engine and police sirens whilst he was trying to make himself heard by the Cadets! The banner was carried by Cdt Poole. This was the first time he had ever carried it. A very good display by everyone. Special thanks should go to miss Michelle Reeves who gave up her time to help teach the banner routine to Cdt Poole.
