On Sunday 15th August, cadets from 1181 (Syston) Squadron joined cadets from the Leicester area at a charity fund raiser at Bruntingthorpe Airfield in aid of various childrens charities.
The high octane event included displays from a Spitfire, a Mustang and The Red Bull Air Race Team, whilst on the ground the 10,000 visitors were treated to displays from Russ Swift and his Mini display team. Visitors could also pay a small fee to experience the thrill of driving at close to 150mph and were allowed to chose from a large aray of different sports cars, for their lap of the track.
The cadets were on hand to assist with car parking duties and helping visitors in and out of cars on the pit lane. Due to the large numbers of cadets in attendance, this allowed them to be split into two teams, allowing the cadets to explore the event, with many experiencing the high speeds on the track.
