On the morning of Sunday 9th October 2011, Cadet Corporal A Norman and Junior Cadet E Lenihan set out on a journey to RAF Cranwell, this was after being selected at the Wing swimming competition earlier in the month.
They were representing South and East Midlands Wing against the 5 other Wings in the Region. Cadet Lenihan had only been at the Squadron for just 2 months which made this achievement all the greater.
Cadet Corporal Norman was participating in the Senior boys relay and Junior Cadet Lenihan was swimming in the Freestyle relay and the individual relay. Cadet Corporal Norman finished 3rd in his event and Junior Cadet Lenihan finished first in the freestyle relay and second in the individual relay. At the end of a very long days swimming, the results were announced. Everyone waited with baited breath! It was finally announced that the Wing had won the Junior Boys trophy and the Senior Girls Trophy and finished second overall on the day, by a difference of just 6 points which is just 1 race difference! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their day and spirits were high after all the efforts put in by everyone. Written by Cadet Corporal Andy Norman.
